The High Line is an urban waste metamorphosis. In the 1900’s elevated rail platforms were constructed to transport products up and down the meatpacking district. Later deserted, these rusty rails were transformed into a park in the sky. Today the High Line is recognized as one of the coolest 1.5 miles walks in NYC. The best part, it’s free. One World Observatory – See for Miles and Miles
This 1776 foot tall building is the largest in North America. One World Observatory sits three levels high on floors 101, 102 and 103 atop One World Trade Center. Circle Line Sight Seeing Cruises: Landmark Cruise Review
The Circle Line has been a favorite NYC weekend activity since 1945. Locals and tourists alike have taken many a Circle Line Cruise over the years. The Landmark Cruise, which departs from Pier 83 at 42nd Street on the East Side, is possibly the most famous. Cruising to the Statue of Liberty and then on to sites on both the East and Hudson Rivers, the Landmark Cruise is the perfect leisurely thing to do in NYC this weekend. Exploring Governors Island
This colonial fortress, turned US Coast Guard base, turned secluded NYC park has everything a person could want: castles, forts, Admiral’s mansions, parks and bike trails. For $2 you can board the Governors Island Ferry at the South tip of Manhattan and be on Governors Island a few minutes later.
